FBHFL0/' CLIPMENU Welcome to CLIPMENU. Use this program to set the various parameters for a run of CLIP. The information for a run is stored in a so called INI-file, which is used by CLIP as input. Here you can select the source files, the extracted modules, some additional parameters, and set the syntax of the CLIP lines. 3 Sourcefiles TargetModules Parameters Syntax o  $'8 ProjectStart Extraction This command terminates CLIPMENU, but before doing so, the settings are saved in the file 'CLIP.INI'. When CLIPMENU was started by the batchfile 'CLIP.BAT' CLIP will be started with the settings you just made. '2 ProjectLoad INI-file ]This command will load an INI file. You can select a file using the LoadINI-file dialogbox.  If you made any changes since you started the program or saved an INI-file, you will be prompted with the SaveChanges? dialogbox, to specify if you want to save the changes. w '4 Load INI-file dialogbox YUsing this dialog you can select an INI-file from which CLIPMENU will read the settings.  When you click on a file using the mouse, its name will appear in the top of the dialog, below the line 'Load INI-file'. You can also type a filename directly into the dialogbox.  To change the current directory, you can either type it, or move up and down the directory-tree by clicking the mouse. Clicking on a directory name will move you to that directory, and clicking on '..' will move you to the parent directory. a Press the 'Load' button to load the selected INI-file, or press 'Cancel' to abandon the dialog. Y'2 ProjectSave INI-file cThis command will save the settings you made. Select a filename using the SaveINI-file dialogbox.  } '4 Save INI-file dialogbox oUsing this dialogbox you can save the settings you made for later use. The settings are stored in an INI-file.  When you click on a file using the mouse, its name will appear in the top of the dialog, below the line 'Save INI-file'. You can also type a filename directly into the dialogbox.  To change the current directory, you can either type it, or move up and down the directory-tree by clicking the mouse. Clicking on a directory name will move you to that directory, and clicking on '..' will move you to the parent directory. a Press the 'Save' button to save the selected INI-file, or press 'Cancel' to abandon the dialog. ' ProjectExit This command quits CLIPMENU. If you have made any changes, you will be prompted with the SaveChanges dialogbox. This offers you the change to save the changes before they will be lost forever...  z '2 SettingsSource files Choosing this command brings up the Sourcefilesdialogbox to select the files CLIP should use as source files. From the files you specify here the modules will be extracted. W'6 SettingsTarget Modules Choosing this command brings up the Targetmodulesdialogbox to select the modules you want CLIP to extract from the source files. ['. SettingsParameters eThis command brings up the Parametersdialogbox to set some additional parameters for a run of CLIP. J'& SettingsSyntax _This command brings up the Syntaxdialogbox in which you can set the syntax of the CLIP lines. B' CLIP.BAT You should use this batchfile to run the CLIP system. It will start CLIPMENU, from which you can start CLIP using the StartExtraction command. ' CLIP The CLIP system consists of 2 parts. The first, CLIPMENU, is the program you are using now. It is used to select various parameters for a run of the second part: CLIP. This program takes care of the actual extraction of the modules from the source files.  In CLIPMENU you can create an INI-file with the settings you desire. This file is used by CLIP as input, so it will know what it is desired to do. By using the batchfile CLIP.BAT you are able to start CLIP from within CLIPMENU, using the StartExtraction command in the Project menu. /' INI-file An INI-file is the a file in which the settings for a run of CLIP are stored. It is an ASCII file, so you can read it. Also, it is possible to edit an INI-file, but this is DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. It's much more convenient to use CLIPMENU to create or change the settings. '4 Source files dialogbox vUse this dialogbox to select the source files for CLIP. These are the files from which the modules will be extracted. X The dialogbox consists of two parts. On the left side there is a fileselector like the one used in the Save and Load INI-file dialogs. Above this, you see the current directory and the currently selected file. On the right side there is another box, which contains the files you have selected. Below these two boxes there is a row of buttons: % Confirm Use Move Remove Cancel & You can select files by clicking them using the mouse, or by using the keyboard. To move to another directory, you can double click on its name to move to that directory, or select the '..' to move to a parent directory, or you can directly type it's name in the 'Source Directory' inputline. ~ When you type a filename in the 'Source file' input line without specifying a directory, the current directory will be used.  !'8 Target modules dialogbox Use this dialogbox to select the modules that will be extracted (or omitted, as you wish) from the sourcefiles. You can choose for the selected modules to be extracted or to be omitted.  The dialogbox consists of three parts, On the left side there is a fileselector like the one used in the Save and Load INI-file dialogs. Above this, you see the current directory and the currently selected file. On the right side there is another box, which contains the files you have selected. In the upper right corner there is a pair of radiobuttons to select the extraction mode. Below these three boxes there is a row of buttons: % Confirm Use Move Remove Cancel  You can specify whether the selected modules will be extracted or will be omitted by CLIP. If you select the 'Extracted' option, the modules will be generated using the specified path. However, when you choose the 'Omitted' option, the modules will be generated in the 'Module Directory' that was specified at the time you pressed the Confirm button. If you hadn't specified a directory then, the current DOS directory will be used.  You can select files by clicking them using the mouse, or by using the keyboard. To move to another directory, you can double click on its name to move to that directory, or select the '..' to move to a parent directory, or you can directly type it's name in the 'Module Directory' inputline. When you type a filename in the 'Target Module' input line without specifying a directory, the current directory will be used.  ]f' Confirm `Pressing this button will exit the dialogbox, and the current settingswill be accepted by CLIP. ' Use vUse this button to use the selected file above the fileselector. It will be added to the selected files on the right. ' Move dUse this button to change the order of the selected files. The procedure to do so is the following:  Select one or more files, using the mouse or the keyboard. Then press the 'Move' button. Now, move the cursor to the position these files have to be moved to, and select it by double clicking or pressing the spacebar.  Note that the files will be inserted just before the spot you selected, so when you want to move files to the end, you must move the cursor below the list, and then select that spot. ' Remove wPressing this button will remove the selected file from the list of selected files on the right side of the dialogbox. '. Parameter dialogbox 6Use this dialogbox to set various parameters of CLIP. Q WARNING !!! None of these parameters are actually used by CLIP in this version. '( Syntax dialogbox This dialogbox is used to set the syntax parameters of CLIP. Here you can set the syntax of the CLIP lines according to your needs, or better, the programming language you are using. < The box contains three buttons, OK, ShowSyntax and Cancel  ' Cancel OPressing this button will abandon the dialogbox ignoring the changes you made. ' OK Pressing the 'OK' button will leave the dialogbox, and the syntax you specified will be checked. If the syntax appears to be incorrect, an errormessage is issued and you will be returned to the dialogbox to correct the syntax. ' Show Syntax ;Pressing this button will bring up another dialogbox in which the CLIP lines are shown, using the syntax you specified. Note that no check is performed here on the validity of the syntax, so the lines you see may be incorrect. The actual syntax check is done when you press the 'OK' button in the Syntax dialogbox. '" Error Message .This dialogbox shows you which error occured. ', Using this program There are two ways to use this program. The easiest way is by using a mouse. You can simply click on anything you want to select.  If you don't have a mouse, don't worry. There are keyboard equivalents for every function in this program. In the status line at the bottom of the screen some of them are shown. An important one is the F10 key. With this key you can use the menu at the top of the screen. Use the arrow keys to move around in the menu, and press or to select an item. Behind the text in the menu items you will notice more keyboard equivalents. By pressing the specified key you can bypass the menu next time.  Whenever you are in a dialogbox, you can switch between the items in the dialog by pressing or . You will see that the current item will be highlighted. To select the highlighted item, you can press , but this is only possible with selectable items like buttons. > You will notice that one letter in an item is highlighted. Press the corresponding key to select that item. However, when you are editing this will not work, and the letter you typed will appear in the input-line. Don't worry, to select an item you can always press the key and then type the corresponding key.  In some dialogboxes you will notice scrollbars. You can scroll the attached items by pressing the arrow keys, or by using the / keys. '$ Save Changes ? b You have made changes in the settings for CLIP that will be lost if you proceed. You can either: ` Save Changes: The standard SaveINI-file dialogbox will appear and you can save your settings.
