R Installation on the Macintosh (Pre-alpha Version) --------------------------------------------------- Warning: This is VERY preliminary. Pre-requisites: A Macintosh computer (floating point is preferable) At least 2.5 megabytes of memory free (after the OS loads) Installation: 0. Ftp the file R.sea.hqx. This is a binhexed self extracting archive. 1. Extract the files in the archive. You should get R and R-application. NOTE: you don't run ``R-application'' it is the bare interpreter with no functions in it. You run R by double clicking on the ``R '' document. It runs the application and loads all the functions. 2. The files R-doc.ps and R-doc.tex contain documentation for the R system functions. You will need to be familiar with S for this to mean much to you. Ross Ihaka ihaka@stat.auckland.ac.nz
