Japanese support

Here's the Japanese support for FPDF:

japanese.zip

The file contains the class and a simple example.

The supported encoding is SJIS.
2 fonts are available, one with proportional Latin characters, and one with half-width. To use proportional, you must first call AddSJISFont(), then you can select the font with SetFont('SJIS'). For half-width, you must call AddSJIShwFont(), then SetFont('SJIS-hw').
All styles (bold, italic and underline) are available.
All usual methods (Cell(), MultiCell(), Write() and GetStringWidth()) work with these new fonts.

Note: an alternative extension is available here:

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if some people here can align the text as they want when they use the MultiCell function ?

as for me, it always put the string next to the right margin whether I use L, C,etc.

Do you have a clue about that ?

thank you

 Trouble rendering Japanese

Hello,

I've tried using both of the Japanese libraries offered above without success. I always get "mojibake" (character jibberish) in the resultant PDF file. I happen to have Acrobat professional and it will properly produce a Japanese & English text document when I create a PDF document from a Japanese & English webpage I've created and I never get errors indicating missing fonts, etc. The encoding listed in this properly rendered PDF file is 'UniJIS-UCS2-H'. However, when I retrieve the same Japanese text strings from a MySQL database that are displayed in the webpage and directly feed them to the Cell or MultiCell functions the resultant PDF renders character jibberish. I've tried both the 'SJIS' and 'UNIJIS' encodings.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! I've created a website to record and quiz myself on Japanese vocab while at a small language school in Tokyo and am trying to take advantage of my Docomo keitai (cell phone)'s ability to view PDF docs to study these vocabulary while commuting on the train.

Thank you. Arigatou gozaimasu!

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance,

Julien
